wildfires are raging across the southland…
our black xterra was an ashen gray this morning. opening the door sent down a a slurry of ash, swirling the light dust back into the air.
the sky is so smoky. you can smell the burning in the air. i woke up thinking part of our own place was on fire.
and we’re all the way out in the south bay…
friday was less ashy, but more smoky. an orange haze enveloped the sky near LAX; the sun peeking through glimmered oddly on the cars on the freeway around me.
i can’t imagine how things are closer to the fires…
here’s hoping the fires end soon.
You drive an SUV but write about the horrible stuff in the air? Do you know how much more pollution your car puts into the air than a normal passenger car would give off in a year’s time?
Actually, I drive a compact car. My fiance drives the xterra, and he had it before i got in the picture. It’s a long story of how he got it, but i should add that the decision wasn’t completely his. And now that we do own one, we try to be sensible about it, limiting how much we take it out, how much gas we put in it, etc.
as a side note, i wasn’t so much complaining about the air, but rather trying to illustrate how bad the fires are that even we were feeling the impact of it. are you feeling it where you’re at too?
thanks for commenting, and keep up the anti-SUV crusade!
