The Long Now Foundation

Jer tipped me off to this group that is working on building a self-powered clock based on the movement of the planets that can keep accurate time for 10,000 years, ticking once every year and bonging once each century. The project is meant to get people to rethink their concept of the “now” and becoming more aware of long-term responsibility. Pretty neat, methinks.

They’ve just finished their second prototype. The first is on display at the Science Museum in London.
